Features & Editions

MirrorFolder is available in Standard, Cloud and Enterprise editions, based on the availability of features.

Standard edition

The following features are available in the Standard as well as in all other editions of MirrorFolder.

  • Works on the "Setup and Forget" principle, i.e., once you set up one or more mirror or archive paths for a folder or drive, synchronization or archiving will be done automatically and continuously in the background.

  • Runs as a service in the background using minimum system resources, e.g., CPU time, memory, etc., for automatic synchronization and archiving of folders.

  • Supports synchronization and archiving of folders on fixed local drives, removable USB/eSATA drives, and local network drives accessible through any supported protocols, e.g., SMB, CIFS, NFS, WebDAV, etc.

  • Supports automatic synchronization of Android phones and tablets to other storage locations through USB port using MTP protocol.

  • Supports synchronization and archiving of a folder or drive to multiple destinations each with different options.

  • Built-in scheduler for automatic synchronization and archiving of folders at a specified time interval, or at specified times of the day.

  • Supports automatic synchronization of folders on system startup, shutdown, login, log-off, screen lock, screen unlock, or when a removable or network drive is connected

  • Supports real-time synchronization of folders and files

  • Supports bi-directional synchronization with replication of file delete operation.

  • Option to use NTFS Change Journals data for fast synchronization of drive or folders containing a very large number of files.

  • Option to use Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service APIs to create a volume snapshot of local fixed drive to copy opened and locked files during synchronization

  • Supports synchronization and archiving of multiple folders concurrently, each using multiple threads, for efficient usage of multi-core systems.

  • Supports copying of NTFS alternate named streams, file permissions, sparse files, encrypted files, reparse point, symbolic link, hard link, etc.

  • Option to include or exclude certain sub-folders and file types for synchronization and archiving.

  • Supports creation of the rotating mirrors by appending a time stamp to the mirror path.

  • Supports creation of snapshot history of mirror path using hard links.

  • Supports archiving of older and deleted versions of files from the mirror folder in a series of archive files in 7z or zip format into a third location.

  • Option to limit disk/network bandwidth usage and task priority during background synchronization.

  • Option to replicate file delete operation during synchronization.

  • Utility to find and restore files from multiple mirror folders and archive files to a source folder at a chosen point in time.

  • Utility to compare binary content of files between two folders on any storage location.

  • Extensive logging of automatic/real-time synchronization, archiving, warning, errors, and remote access.

  • Option to send email notification on error, warning, and successful synchronization/archive operations.

  • Supports importing and exporting of settings and logs in XML and HTML file format.

  • Uses Unicode internally so that it can handle file and folder names in any language supported by Windows.

  • Supports execution of an external command before and after synchronization or archiving.

Cloud edition

It has the following features in addition to features included in the Standard edition.

  • Supports FTP, SFTP, and WebDAV as storage locations for synchronization, archiving, restoration, and comparison operations.

  • Supports ADrive, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive personal and business cloud storage for all operations.

  • Options to automatically encrypt files while copying to a remote storage location during synchronization.

  • Options to automatically decrypt files while copying from a remote storage location during synchronization or restoration.

Enterprise edition

It has the following features in addition to features included in the Standard and the Cloud editions.

  • Supports the headless installation, i.e., without any user interface application.

  • Supports performing all operations from a remote computer.

  • Supports command line options to perform some basic settings and synchronization operations.

What's new

The following features have been added in v6.1.

  • Support for synchronization, restore, and comparison of files from/to Android phones and tablets.

  • Support for Google Cloud Storage.

  • Other minor improvements.

The following features have been added in v6.0.

  • Folders can be archived automatically in ZIP or 7Z file format.

  • Supports the creation of a rotating mirror by appending a time stamp to the mirror path.

  • It can keep a snapshot history of the mirror folder using hard links on local or network drives

  • Supports execution of an external command before and after synchronization or archiving.

  • Supports transparent encryption and decryption of mirror files in the Cloud edition.

  • It can now wake up the computer from sleep or hibernation state for synchronization or archiving.

  • Supports FTP, SFTP, and WebDAV servers as remote storage locations for mirror and archive paths.

  • Supports cloud storage like ADrive, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive as remote storage locations for mirror and archive path.

The following features are no longer available in this version.

  • Real-time file mirroring (RAID-1 type) option and booting from the mirror drive.

  • Integration with Windows Explorer.

Installation

After downloading the MirrorFolder setup program, you need to run it with administrative privilege to install the software. No reboot is required after installation. There are also no minimum system requirements to run this software. A license key is required to run this software. You can request a free 30 days trial license key, and it will be delivered by email.

Uninstallation

You can uninstall this software by opening Windows settings and then Apps & features section. You can also uninstall it from Control Panel and then Program and Features section. Note that uninstallation will remove all settings including any encryption key that you saved. So, you may want to export its settings before uninstalling the software from your computer.
