Overview

MirrorFolder is an automated backup and archiving software designed to continuously synchronize or mirror folders and files on local, network, and removable drives, as well as on several cloud storage locations. You can choose to mirror your important folders, or even an entire drive, on another local, network, removable drive, or cloud storage automatically in the background. Once a mirror is set up, mirroring will be done silently in the background without requiring any further effort or even attention from you. Options are available to exclude file types and subfolders from mirroring. You may also optionally archive files inside a zip file periodically. Extensive logs are available about what it is doing in the background.

Why mirror?

There are many potential reasons for data loss on personal computers, like hard disk failure, software malfunctioning, virus infection, accidental deletion of files, etc. Though the chance of that happening on your computer within the next few days is very low, it increases with time and you may not ignore it for a long period, e.g., the next 6-12 months. Besides that, you may also sometime want to look at the previous states of a file. So, you can think of mirroring or backup as a kind of insurance against the potential loss of work and data.

In the case of organizations, the chances of data loss increase with the number of computers, and it can be very costly for an organization. It may be important for an organization to keep an up-to-minute backup of work/data instead of a weekly/daily backup. MirrorFolder can play an important role here by doing continuous backup in the background automatically.
